The "1/7 rule" of oxy-acetylene refers to the guideline that you should not withdraw more than 1/7 of the total capacity of an acetylene cylinder per hour. Exceeding this rate can cause acetone (the solvent in the cylinder) to be drawn out with the gas, which can be dangerous and reduce the efficiency of the flame.
