In MIG welding, the main consumables are the welding wire (electrode) and the shielding gas. The wire is continuously fed through the welding gun and melts to form the weld, while the shielding gas (such as argon or a mix of argon and CO₂) protects the weld pool from contamination. Additionally, contact tips and nozzles are considered consumables as they wear out and require regular replacement.
