When using a fume extractor, you should still wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety goggles or glasses, gloves, and sometimes a lab coat or protective clothing, depending on the materials being used. If fumes are particularly hazardous, a suitable respirator may also be required in addition to the fume extractor.
