SpaceX primarily uses friction stir welding (FSW) for joining large sections of their rockets, such as the Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy tanks. This technique creates strong, high-quality welds in aluminum alloys, which are commonly used in their spacecraft. Additionally, they also use traditional methods like TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding for smaller components.
