The 1/7 rule of oxy-acetylene refers to the guideline that you should not withdraw more than 1/7 of the total capacity of an acetylene cylinder per hour. Exceeding this rate can cause acetylene to become unstable and possibly dangerous, as it may start to release acetone or form explosive mixtures.
