E309-16 is an AWS A5.4 austenitic stainless SMAW electrode with 80 ksi minimum tensile and 23 Cr / 13 Ni chemistry. Same dissimilar-metal and stainless-overlay applications as E309L but with the standard carbon specification (0.15% max) - used where carbon control is not critical. Rutile coating (-16) runs smoothly on AC or DC+ in all positions.
