The Sturdi Clamp is the Mathey Dearman chain clamp for aligning and reforming schedule 40 and lighter pipe. Its high-rise jackbars and main block reform the pipe on either side of the weld gap to remove hi-lo, and the welder can weld the full circumference with the clamp in place.
Double jackbars spaced around the pipe align and reform the inside or outside diameters of both pipes to within 0.5 mm. The clamp aligns any wall schedule of pipe, elbows, tees and other fittings, and Mathey Dearman notes that one chain clamp covers the range of eight cage clamps.
Construction and sizes
Every Sturdi Clamp has stainless steel jackscrews, jackbars and main blocks, with a nickel-plated carbon steel or stainless steel roller chain. Each clamp includes a steel storage box; the level and support device is sold separately. Sizes on this product run from 1–12 in (D250-SC) to 10–72 in (D237-SCSS), with carbon steel or stainless steel chain.
