A standard push-only wire feeder pushes wire from the cabinet to the gun. At cable lengths beyond 10–12 feet, soft 4043 or 5356 aluminum wire buckles inside the cable, causing erratic arc starts, inconsistent wire speed, and weld defects. For operators who do not require long cable runs and prefer a self-contained gun with the wire spool mounted at the gun head, the Prince XL® spool gun is MK Products' answer. The Prince XL holds a 4" (1 lb) aluminum wire spool at the gun and feeds directly — no push-pull cabinet required. Rated at 225A air-cooled, the Prince XL ships in 7-pin Lincoln Electric-compatible and other configurations.
