Welding Booths

Frequently Asked Questions

What sizes of welding booths are available, and how do I choose between a 5×5 and 6×6 ft. booth?
Lincoln Electric's Weld Fume booth line includes single and dual 5×5 ft. and 6×6 ft. standalone configurations. A 5×5 ft. booth (K5563-1 / K5563-2) fits one welder comfortably for light-duty training or short production runs. The 6×6 ft. standalone (K5543-3 single, K5543-4 dual) provides more elbow room for larger weldments and is easier to maneuver stock into. If you're setting up a dual-operator cell, the 6×6 dual fume extraction One-Pak (K5563-4) handles two welding stations with an integrated extraction unit.
Do welding booths include fume extraction, or do I need to buy that separately?
It depends on the package. Lincoln's Weld Booth Fume Extraction One-Pak® series (K5563-1 through K5563-4) bundles the booth structure with an integrated extraction unit. The Prism® Exhaust Booth series (K5663-1 / K5663-2, K5664-1 through K5664-8) includes active extraction built into the booth sides and comes in 1-phase and 3-phase variants. Standalone booth curtain kits (K5249-1 through K5249-5) and tables (K5248 series) are structural only — fume control must be added separately.
What electrical supply does a Prism® Exhaust Booth require?
The Prism® Exhaust Booth line comes in two voltage configurations: 230V/3-phase (K5663-1, K5664-1, K5664-2, K5664-3, K5664-4) and 230V/1-phase (K5663-2, K5664-5 through K5664-8). Choose based on your facility's panel availability. Three-phase units typically move more air volume and are better for high-duty-cycle production environments. Confirm your circuit breaker sizing with the spec sheet for the specific model before installation.
Can I add multiple Prism® Exhaust Booths together to expand my training or production floor?
Yes. Lincoln offers both standalone starter configurations and modular add-on units. The Prism® Exhaust Booth Side-by-Side Add-On (K5664-2 / K5664-6) attaches to a starter unit to expand capacity laterally. Back-to-Back Add-On units (K5664-4 / K5664-8) allow a second row behind the first. This lets you grow a weld booth system in stages rather than purchasing a large multi-station unit all at once.
What are welding booth curtains made of, and do they really block harmful arc flash?
Welding booth curtain kits (K5249-1 through K5249-5) use flame-retardant PVC or similar opaque curtain material that blocks visible arc flash, spatter, and UV/IR radiation from reaching adjacent work areas. Widths range from 50 in. to 98 in. (W) at a standard 66 in. height. They do not block all radiation at extremely close distances — OSHA and AWS D5.2 recommend bystanders remain at least 50 ft from an uncurtained arc or use appropriate shade curtains. Curtains are a partition tool, not a substitute for a welder's personal PPE.
Is the Weld Booth Assist (K5319-1) a separate product, and what does it do?
Yes, the Weld Booth Assist (K5319-1) is a standalone accessory in the Weld Fume – Booths & Tables PIM category. It is an add-on capture/assist component that improves fume collection efficiency within an existing booth, typically by directing air movement or providing a supplemental suction point near the welding zone. It is not a complete booth on its own. Check the spec sheet to confirm compatibility with your existing extraction unit before ordering.
