Harris Stay-Silv 6 Phos Copper Brazing Alloy 1/8 SQ X 36 X 25# PKG - 6636S
Stay-Silv 6 is medium range silver brazing filler metal designed for copper-to-copper applications. It is somewhat more ductile than Harris. Stay-Silv 6 can be used on copper-to-brass with appropriate brazing flux. Stay-Silv 6 has a lower phosphorus content than the AWS BCuP- 4 classification thus creating an alloy that is well suited for many brazing applications. The melting range makes it useful for assemblies with wider clearance. It is not recommended for brazing steel or other ferrous base metals, as the phosphorus content promotes formation of low ductility intermetallic with the base metal. Corrosion resistance is generally similar to copper base metal, but due to its phosphorus content should not be used if the braze is exposed to sulfur or sulfur compounds in service. Complies with the EU Reach & RoHS directive.
Features
- Medium-range silver brazing alloy for copper-to-copper applications
- More ductile than Harris 0 or Stay-Silv 2
- Used in rod form for manual braze applications, but can be formed as brazing rings or on spools for semi-automated applications
- Well suited for assemblies with wider clearances
- Recommended joint clearance of 0.002 in. - 0.005 in. (0.05 mm - 0.13 mm)
- Use Stay-Silv white flux to braze brass or copper-to-brass
- Corrosion resistance is generally similar to the copper base metal, but phosphorus containing alloys, including Stay-Silv 6, should not be used if the braze is exposed to sulfur or sulfur compounds in service
- Not recommended for brazing steel or other ferrous metals due to sufficient lack of joint ductility
- The phosphorus content promotes formation of a low ductility intermetallic with the base metal
- Complies with the EU Reach & RoHS directive
