E312-16 is an AWS A5.4 duplex austenitic-ferritic stainless SMAW electrode with 95 ksi minimum tensile and ~29 Cr / 9 Ni chemistry, designed for welding dissimilar metals (stainless to carbon steel, tool steels, hardenable alloys) and as a high-strength repair electrode for unknown-chemistry steels. The high ferrite content (~30 FN) resists hot cracking on high-restraint and high-dilution welds. -16 lime-titania coating runs on AC or DC+ in all positions.
