The UVF-2 SMART FEEDER is the industry’s first HMI/PLC based system designed for automatic feeding of weld studs. An easy to navigate, colorful display allows for full adjustment of feeding parameters. Equipped with up to five sensors, the feeder tracks the stud’s position through the system; from the vibratory bowl to the weld head. If an error exists, the operator is notified via the touch screen and then instructed how to resolve the problem. The PLC can also provide an external signal to a CNC or robot to pause production in the event of an error. A feed counter can keep track of productivity or be used to establish a maintenance interval. A safety enclosure made from structural aluminum and Plexiglas allows for a safe operating environment while keeping the system free from dirt and debris. The UVF-2 smart feeder can handle weld studs ranging from #4 through 5/16” (M3-M8) in diameter and up to 1-1/8” in length. It can be used with mini-flanged, micro-flanged, and DIN flanged fasteners. The UVF-2 works with all IWT autofeed weld heads and the IWT-CA auto feed hand gun.
