The Lincoln Cormet SAW Welding Wire is a family of all-positional flux-cored wires for Cr-Mo creep-resisting steel welding in power generation and petrochemical applications. Cormet 1 (CORM1-12N) is formulated for 1¼Cr-½Mo (B2) steels, while Cormet 2 (CORM2-12N) targets 2¼Cr-1Mo (B3) steels. Both deliver high deposition rates, excellent out-of-position operability, and the chemistry required for elevated-temperature service.
- Classification: E81T1-B2 / E91T1-B3
- Alloy class: Cr-Mo

- Shielding gas: 80% Ar / 20% CO₂ or 100% CO₂ (increase voltage 1–2V for CO₂)
- Wire diameter: 1.2 mm
- Current: DC+; Cormet 1: 160–260A at 24–30V
Welding Cr-Mo creep-resisting steels in power generation (boiler pressure parts, steam piping, headers), petrochemical refineries, and chemical processing plants. Cormet 1 for P11/P12 grade (1.25Cr-0.5Mo); Cormet 2 for P22 grade (2.25Cr-1Mo) steels. Both suitable for all-position welding including fixed-position pipe.
- All-positional flux-cored wire — suitable for fixed-position pipe welding
- High purity steel sheath minimizes trace element contamination
- H4 low-hydrogen designation for crack-sensitive high-strength applications
- Cormet 1: up to 550°C (1022°F) service; Cormet 2: up to 600°C (1112°F) service
- High deposition rate vs. SMAW alternatives
- Metal recovery approximately 90% with respect to wire
