E308-16 is an AWS A5.4 austenitic stainless SMAW electrode with 75 ksi minimum tensile and ~19.5 Cr / 10 Ni chemistry, designed for welding 304 and 304H stainless steel and similar austenitic grades. The 308H variant has carbon controlled to 0.04-0.08% for high-temperature creep strength in 304H elevated-service applications (boiler superheaters, steam piping). The -16 lime-titania coating delivers smooth arc and easy slag removal. Runs on AC or DC+ in all positions.
