Key Features
  • Full Job-Site Versatility – Offers up to 400 amps (IEC rated at 325 amps) of welding current to tackle numerous welding and carbon arc gouging applications. Includes six optimized CC and CV modes, plus advanced modes to support pulsed TIG, pulsed MIG, STT®, and mechanized equipment.
  • All Day Auxiliary Power – Provides up to 11 kW of continuous three-phase power to run industrial tools such as plasma cutters, pumps, or inverter welders.
  • Next-Gen Display – Bright, durable 7 in. digital user interface for unmatched machine control - Save and recall memories, receive maintenance reminders, and enable PIN authorization.
  • CrossLinc® Enabled – Allows communication through a standard weld cable to enable voltage or current control at the arc without a control cable to help improve safety, quality, and productivity with less trips to the power source and reduced jobsite clutter. Built-in True Voltage Technology (TVT) compensates for voltage drop to further improve operations.
  • Run Longer and More Efficient – Weld longer with a class-leading 20 US gal. (75.7 L) fuel tank and integrated Auto-Stop/Start feature, designed to prevent excessive idling to help save on fuel costs, avoid unnecessary engine wear, and extend time between required maintenance.
  • Field-Proven Diesel Engine – Powered by a 24.8 hp, naturally aspirated Kubota® diesel engine to provide extremely smooth and quiet operation while meeting EPA Tier 4 Final compliance.
  • Trusted Reliability – Engineered tough to withstand harsh conditions and backed by trusted industry support and 3-year warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions
What welding processes does the Frontier 400X support?

The Frontier 400X supports Stick (SMAW) and TIG (GTAW) welding as standard processes. Many engine-driven models in this family also support MIG (GMAW) and flux-core (FCAW) welding when paired with an optional wire feeder. Check the spec sheet for the exact output range and recommended wire feeder compatibility.

Does the Frontier 400X have a generator output for powering tools?

Yes. Lincoln Electric engine-driven welders in this class include AC generator power — typically 120V and 240V auxiliary power outlets — making them ideal for jobsite use where power tools, lights, or other equipment need to run alongside welding operations. Refer to the spec sheet for exact generator wattage.

What engine powers the Frontier 400X?

Lincoln engine drives in this class are available with Kohler, Kubota, or Perkins diesel/gasoline engines depending on the specific model variant. The engine brand and displacement is listed on the product label and in the owner's manual. Contact WeldingMart if you need to confirm the exact engine for a specific unit.

What is the duty cycle rating?

Duty cycle varies by amperage setting. At maximum rated output the duty cycle is typically 100% — engine drives are designed for continuous, all-day operation in demanding field environments. Refer to the spec sheet for the duty cycle curve at specific amperage levels.

Is this a factory demo or refurbished unit?

Yes — this is a factory demo or low-hour unit directly from Lincoln Electric. Units may show light cosmetic marks from display use but are mechanically sound. Each unit includes any applicable remaining Lincoln Electric warranty. Contact WeldingMart for warranty status on the specific unit number.

What does this unit come with?

Factory demo engine drives typically include the base machine and standard accessories as specified by Lincoln Electric. Consumables (electrodes, gas cylinders) are not included. See the product listing details or contact WeldingMart to confirm what is included with your specific unit.
