About Lincoln Fleetweld 180

E6011 is an AWS A5.1 cellulose-potassium-coated SMAW electrode with 60 ksi minimum tensile, designed for small AC welders and low open-circuit-voltage power sources (as low as 50V OCV). The cellulose-potassium coating produces a stable, easy-striking arc that handles galvanized, coated, painted, dirty, or lightly rusted steel, making E6011 the go-to choice for maintenance, repair, farm, and field work on small machines. Runs AC, DC+, and DC−; all-position, fast-freeze with light, easily-removed slag — well-suited to sheet metal, edge, corner, and butt joints.

Questions about this package
Is this the same electrode as the parent Lincoln Fleetweld 180 grade, just in a different package?

Yes. SKU ED033498 is the same AWS A5.1/A5.1M E6011 classification as every other size in the Lincoln Fleetweld 180 family. The only difference is diameter (5/32 in) and package format (5 lb tube). Polarity, position, and tensile properties are identical to the parent grade.

How many rods are in this 5 lb tube?

Approximately ~17 rods. Exact count varies with manufacturing tolerance but a 5 lb tube of 5/32 in Lincoln Fleetweld 180 typically contains in this range.

What is the shelf life if I do not use them all?

Sealed containers store indefinitely in a dry environment. These are not low-hydrogen electrodes, so atmospheric exposure tolerance is much higher than E7018-class rods - avoid extended damp storage, but routine workshop humidity does not affect performance.

What diameter should I use for common applications?

5/32 in suits thicker plate fill passes (~1/4 in and up) on machines with enough output - higher deposition for fabrication and structural maintenance on small to mid-size AC welders. See the parent grade page for full diameter-to-amperage guidance.

Can I mix this size with other diameters on the same job?

Yes, provided your procedure qualification (WPS) covers the diameter range. Many shops use one diameter for root, one for fill, and one for cap. All sizes within Lincoln Fleetweld 180 share identical mechanical properties (AWS A5.1/A5.1M E6011) so weld metal chemistry is consistent across passes.

Do I need to rebake these after the can is opened?

No. Cellulosic and rutile coatings are not low-hydrogen and do not require the rebake discipline of E7018-class electrodes. Keep them dry in normal storage; if the coating becomes visibly damp, redry at 200-275 F before use.

Does this size require a special holder or stinger?

Use an electrode holder rated for the amperage range above (110-180 A). Most general-purpose stinger holders (e.g. 300-500 A class) handle 5/32 in Lincoln Fleetweld 180 without issue. For sustained high-amperage runs on larger diameters, a 500 A or higher holder is recommended.

Is this Buy America compliant?

This specific SKU is not the Buy America variant. Lincoln Fleetweld 180 may be available in a Buy America compliant version - see the parent grade page for all available compliance variants.
